Thank You Thursday

and the winner is......
Congratulations Kayley!

She has been a little entrepreneur since she was 13 years old. She loves art and is very creative. She started making purses that she designed, sewed and embellished with embroidery and shells. She loved to give them as gifts and everyone adored them. Soon people started ordering them from her and when Kayley was 14 she took them to a specialty boutique at Five Points an art district in Jacksonville. It was fun to be shopping and walk in a beautiful shop to see her bags!

She especially loves painting plaques. She painted her first one for her niece, Ella, and gave it to Marci at her baby shower.Once again, she started taking orders and I added them to my e-store. Here are a couple she did for my customers:

She then opened Pink Coconut Designs.

I'm so excited for Kayley and Scott. Kayley entered a contest through BYU for The 2009 Home Based Business Plan Competition. The contestants had to present a business plan and power point presentation. Kayley and Scott make such a great team as he is the perfect financial advisor and business consultant.
This is the new plaque she made for her presentation.

Earlier today Kayley did her Power Point Presentation, the last part of the competition.
They just found out she won!

Way to go- Kayley and Scott
They're on their way!

Sunday Dinner to Marvelous Monday

Yesterday Mike, Marci, Ella & Addie joined us for Sunday dinner. This is always a first choice when I ask for suggestions. I love it because it is soooo easy. They love it because it's pretty much ready when we walk in the door after church...
Menu: Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, Tossed Green Salad and Rolls.

I've been making roast this way forever and I'm sure most of you do as well. I don't even have an actual recipe.

This is pretty much it:
Crock Pot Roast
Ingredients:
Roast
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Lipton Onion Soup

I usually use 3 cans of soup when I'm planning to feed a crowd. I mix the Cream of Mushroom soup and the Lipton Onion Soup Mix in the crock pot first and then add the roast. Just start it as early as possible and let it cook on low to medium (depending on your crockpot) all day.

Ella and Nana always sit at the end of the table together.

Miss Addie was very focused using her little fork.

Afterwards we went to a Stake Music Fireside where Hope's little Vocal Group sang
"I Stand All Amazed" in harmony. I was amazed!
It was a great weekend! I even got to talk to both Mack and Kayley for awhile.
Head on Over to Pineapple Hill's Marvelous Monday and check out the new giveaway!

My 2009 Word

Here's a little something to think about today....
Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2009?

Over at Tip Junkie, Laurie is hosting
"Word of the Year"...Check it out HERE."
"A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."~Quote on Tip Junkie.

The word I have chosen is
Definition: Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of despair, wanting, wishing, suffering or perseverance — i.e., believing that a better or positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. Beyond the basic definition, usage of the term hope follows some basic patterns which distinguish its usage from related terms:

Each year in our Relief Society we choose a theme.
Last year it was "Becoming Women of Strength"
We used the scripture reference~Phillippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

After enjoying the beautiful Christmas Season and the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, I was reflecting back on the wonderful lessons and messages about our Savior and his love for us. I especially enjoyed the December Visiting Teaching message:

"Jesus Christ is the Light, Life and Hope of the World".
President Uchtdorf stated, "The gospel of Jesus Christ has the divine power to lift you to great heights from what appears at times to be an unbearable burden or weakness."

and then Our 2009 RS Theme came to me

"A Perfect Brightness of Hope"
Scripture reference~Romans 8:24,
For we are saved by Hope

Although we are faced with many challenges and the economic state of our country is troubled, the Lord wants us to be filled with hope...not just because it points us to a brighter tomorrow but because it changes the quality of our lives today.

I really do believe in Hope. Did you know our youngest daughter is named Hope? 12 years ago, our hearts were filled with deep sorrow and despair. My brother was in a terrible surfing accident and had a severe spinal chord injury. At that same time Mark's brother's wife was diagnosed with a rare and terminal cancer. Our families are very close and it was such a difficult time for everyone. A few months later we shared the news of a new baby girl. This news and the anticipation of her arrival reminded us all of our Savior's atoning love and his gift of hope. It was the perfect name for our sweet blessing.I love this talk The Infinite Power of Hope from the October General Conference.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul.
And sings the tune
Without the words,
and never stops at all.
Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886)

Marvelous Mommy

Do you remember a few months ago Little Addie Girl was featured as The Lil' Peanut of the Month on the website The Lil Peanut Patch.

Marci nominated me for their "Marvelous Mommy" feature which was very kind of her( she's not biased at all). I think I must be the oldest mommy ever submitted to The Patch. Oh well, I'm on there this month. It's the most famous I've ever been. I usually fulfill that aspect of my life by living vicariously through my kids... what can I say, it works for me! Anyway it is a great website dedicated to moms and kids.

Do you know a "Marvelous Mommy" who should be featured a The Lil Peanut Patch? Send them an e-mail with her name and e-mail address.
