Thank You Thursday-My Room

When we bought this house, I was excited there was a little corner room upstairs that I got to call my own!  It's my creative space and I love it. I've always sewn in our bedroom, dining room or basement and truly it worked just fine.  I sure could never go back now though. One of the best benefits is I can make a HUGE mess while engaged in my projects and just close the door.  Sshhhh....that will be OUR secret.
"My Room" was due for a little re-do and some organizing.

Seriously

It's been a long haul with our computer trials.

You know what they say,

If it weren't for a little creative outlet,

and some baby sugar,
This BABY oozes happiness!

...Nana would be a total mess.
I'm back on track AGAIN and I refuse to have another computer problem.  I mean it.

Baby Love

Tomorrow night I'm having a baby shower. It is one of my favorite things to do. It's so fun to celebrate new babies ... don't ya think! This is for a baby boy that was born on January 3rd. I was looking around for anything blue to add to the dining room where the buffet will be. I came across one of Kayley's cute plaques that she made for a sample a few years ago. I hung it on the mirror.

Isn't he a little doll! I decided to make one of my Etsy Frames
to display the cutie pie's picture.

Etsy Frames

I love Christmas time! Tomorrow I'll take some pictures of the house. Things have been busy at church etc, so I've been a slacker about posting. I've been making these decoupage frames for gifts and decided to add some to the Etsy Store. Today I worked on my lesson for Sunday & made Addie's Christmas stocking (hopefully Marci will take a picture, I forgot to).
When I was going through my files, I came across this funny letter. I forgot all about it but found it just as funny as the first time I read it, so I thought I'd share it:

Hi Erma,
This perfectly delightful note is being sent on paper I made myself to tell you what I have been up to. Since it snowed last night, I got up early and made a sled with old barn wood and a glue gun. I hand painted it in gold leaf, got out my loom, and made a blanket in peaches and mauves. Then to make the sled complete, I made a white horse to pull it, from DNA that I had just sitting around in my craft room.
By then, it was time to start making the place mats and napkins for my 20 breakfast guests. I'm serving the old standard Stewart twelve-course breakfast, but I'll let you in on a little secret: I didn't have time to make the tables and chairs this morning, so I used the ones I had on hand.
Before I moved the table into the dining room, I decided to add just a touch of the holidays. So I repainted the room in pinks and stenciled gold stars on the ceiling. Then, while the homemade bread was rising, I took antique candle molds and made the dishes (exactly the same shade of pink) to use for breakfast. These were made from Hungarian clay, which you can get at almost any Hungarian craft store.

Well, I must run. I need to finish the buttonholes on the dress I'm wearing for breakfast. I'll get out the sled and drive this note to the post office as soon as the glue dries on the envelope I'll be making.
Hope my breakfast guests don't stay too long, I have 40,000 cranberries to string with bay leaves before my speaking engagement at noon. It's a good thing.
Love,Martha Stewart

Response from Erma Bombeck:

Dear Martha,
I'm writing this on the back of an old shopping list, pay no attention to the coffee and jelly stains. I'm 20 minutes late getting my daughter up for school, packing a lunch with one hand, on the phone with the dog pound, seems old Ruff needs bailing out again. Burnt my arm on the curling iron when I was trying to make those cute curly fries, how DO they do that?

Still can't find the scissors to cut out some snowflakes, tried using an old disposable razor ... trashed the tablecloth. Tried that cranberry thing, frozen cranberries mushed up after I defrosted them in the microwave.

Oh, and don't use Fruity Pebbles as a substitute in that Rice Krispie snowball recipe, unless you happen to like a disgusting shade that resembles puke! The smoke alarm is going off, talk to ya later.
Love,
Erma

Owl Appliques

I finished sewing the appliques on the "owl t-shirts". It really is fun! I did most of the owls with the machine. I embroidered black X's on their eyes and embellished the flowers with embroidery stitches, buttons and beads.

Sorry about these pictures. I took them in the afternoon. I didn't realized they were covered in shadows, and I've already give the shirts to Marci. She takes great pictures. She'll either send me some or put them on her blog.

I'm going to start selling embellished bloomers in my new ETSY store, so I decided to make the first addition "Rick Rack Bloomers" for Ella and Addie. I have some really fun ideas for cute bloomers!

P.S. Pineapple Hill was featured as a "Saturday Sweet Shoppe" at the Little Window Shoppes!
