Ribbon Mania

Ribbons and Ribbons and Ribbons.....Oh My!

I've mentioned previously, I LOVE Ribbons! I'm actually obsessed. Poor Kayley inherited my disorder. We could spend hours in the fabric store admiring all the ribbon colors, textures and variety. I get so excited when I find them on sale or spy any that are unique to add to my collection. They don't go to waste either. I use them for sooo many things.

They really are the perfect embellishment!

Over the years there has come to be this dilemma " how to store" all the beautiful ribbons. Several years ago I saw this idea of putting dowels through a tray. I just wish I could find another perfect tray. This one was from Southern Living and had the pre-cut holes which are perfect.
Last year I found these Ribbon Drawers.

They are great because you can stack them. I tested them out for myself and loved them so much I put them in my e-store.

Guess What! I found out there are a lot of Ribbon Freaks out there. I came across some other fun ways to store ribbon. I love this girl's idea from Capture the Moment.

RIBBON SPOOLS

She uses wooden spools that you can buy at craft stores or may even have on hand.
I'm definitely going to do this for some of those smaller pieces that are not on rolls.

These Ribbons are rolled around paper towel holders. I love this idea!

The Ribbons shown in these two pictures are wound on cardboard and chipboard:

and the too cute, RIBBON TREE !

I LOVE that you love ribbons enough for me AND you... so I still benefit without acquiring yet another addiction :-).

I actually have lots of ribbons too! And they are vintage ribbons I got from my great grandma manning.
The technique used by wrapping ribbons around cardboard is the technique they used in the 1920's and '30s. I have a wooden box with all of them stored. They smell like my great grandma's cedar chest, and I WILL NOT WASH them as they remind me of her and her wonderful pioneer stories! (she was born in 1894 and passed away at 104 years old!)

I'll take a picture and post it for you!

I also was lucky enough to receive ALL of her gloves from that era too! I keep them jealously and I am so grateful I get to wear them during the winter, or just for fun when I want to look fancy! Again, I have tried not to wash the gloves as the have the same smell the ribbons do but, after using them they do need to be rinsed a little bit!
